Women have to harness their power – it’s absolutely true. It’s just learning not to take the first no. And if you can’t go straight ahead, you go around the corner. -Cher
Since the women’s rights movement in the 1960s and 1970s, women have since been given more opportunities to increase their education, individualism, and rights. However, despite the vast amount of improvements that women have received over the years, women are still waiting for equal rights such equal pay and settling the issue of pregnancy discrimination.
It is important to remember that women in this country are still denied equal rights.
Although these changes cannot occur overnight, especially since it’s been 42 years since the Equal Rights Amendment was passed by U.S. Congress, women should never forget that they have a voice.
Monday March 31 will be the 8th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference “The Evolution of Title IX: a Day of Empowerment Through History. Be a Part of Change!”. From 10am to 8pm, everyone is encouraged to attend sessions where we’ll be addressing and reducing gender based discrimination, harassment, and violence in education.
Women’s rights are made to help and encourage the empowerment of women. It is created to show the important issues of inhuman degradement of women over the years and how it needs to come to an end. And lastly, women’s rights are needed to evolve society.
When we take away the rights of a woman, how are we suppose to move forward as a society? If history has taught us anything, it’s that equality is needed for growth and to build upon a stronger community.
