In less than two days, the moment every college student here at Salem State University has waited for will finally arrive. Yes. I’m talking about Spring Break!
What is it about Spring Break that has us all counting the minutes on our clocks like that scene from High School Musical 2? (Don’t deny it, I know you’ve watched it before!) Is it the feeling of being able to finally sleep in after all of those late all nighters you pulled just to study and get your assignments done? Is it the feeling of traveling to a warmer place and having the sunrays beam across your New England skin? Whatever the reason may be, it’s clear that Spring Break is always something students look forward to every spring semester!
But, let’s face it. Unless you’re James Franco or the girls from that film, “Spring Breakers”, odds are your bed is going to be your Spring Break destination for that entire week. And if you are traveling, well…I can guarantee that there are definitely hundreds of students who are very envious of you!
Although I am a huge fan of getting your beauty rest during this time of the semester, it’s important to stay proactive as well because trust me, it’ll pay off that coming Monday after Spring Break. So how can you stay productive during this weeklong mini vacation from classes?
Apply to Summer Internships: Internships are extremely important for not only gaining the experience of your career field of choice, but for also networking with professionals in that area as well. Take this time to research companies that are interning this summer and begin your application process. Who knows, you may find yourself a PAID summer internship!
Schedule Your Semester: I know that Spring Break is a time to think about anything but school, but the benefits of scheduling your semester now are incredibly high! Take out a calendar and make notes of all the assignments, presentations, and any school event you’re going to be involved in for the remaining of the semester. By doing so, you won’t be overwhelmed when you come back from Spring Break! Time management is always a good skill to master in college.
Summer Plans: So you didn’t get to travel this Spring Break like you deserved to. No worries! Use some of your time during Spring Break to plan out travel plans for the summer. Look at it this way; at least we know that summer weather will be a lot warmer than this Spring Break here in New England! And the possibilities for summer traveling dates are a lot more endless too.
Enjoy your Spring Break with getting plenty of relaxation in and remember to stay proactive!
